Some cardeffects say "When ..., You can" in their effects. An example, Gusto Falco:

When this face-up card on the field is sent to the Graveyard, except by battle: You can Special Summon 1 "Gusto" monster from your Deck in face-down Defense Position.

This means that it has to be the last thing to have happened, for it's effect to be able to activate. Like by Torrential. If it were to be used as Synchro Material Monster, it'd miss timing, because the Summon of the Synchro Monster was the last thing that happened. Cards that say "If ..., you can" can be used, they simply start a new chain after the old one resolved.

This is also the ruling on Dark Worlds as well just so everyone knows.
Nothings more annoying at my locals than sombody thinking they get to draw a card from a cost discard.

that's a different ruling biff.
The fact dark World cards won't get their efects is because they weren't discarded by a card effect, but as a cost.
Missing timing is what happens to Naturia Cliff, Lightpulsar Dragon and Peten, the Dark Clown a lot. in certain cases, off course

well its alot more cards that miss timing as of geartown i have even missed timing on that jus cuz i wanted to detroy and play another field spell

You can avoid this by setting the field spell you wanbt to activate.
