I finally get aroundto continuing my blackwing guide.
Continuing from where we left off here:
https://dragonlordacademy.forumotion.com/t146-blackwings-and-how-to-play-them-part-1#457Etesian of Two Swords
Etesian is a member of the Blackwing Covert Operations team, the Black Whirlwind.
During the Gem-Knight campaigns he and squad of the Black Whirlwind members created a diversion that killed several Gem-Knight medics and cleared the way for Abrolhorros and the Armed Wings.
- Spoiler:
Etetsian was scouted for the Whirlwind due to his ability to get things done, by any means nessicary.
For him the mission comes first, comrades come second and self preservation is a luxury.
After a successful attack on the enemy he nis known to seek out enemy survivors, and dispatch them.
Effect:
- Spoiler:
If a "Blackwing" monster you control battles an opponent's monster, and that opponent's monster is still on the field at the end of the Damage Step, you can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard to inflict 1000 damage to your opponent.
Commentary:
- Spoiler:
This guy vinflicts 1000 points of damage when one of your blackwings battle and the other monster is still on the field. 1000 points is nothing to sneeze at but in a time where people pay 4000 lifepoints on a semi-regular basis it isn't game changing.
Verdict:
- Spoiler:
I probably wouldn't run this card in a Blackwing deck. If you build a Burn Deck that uses Blackwings a lot then it would make sense, other than that it doesn't do much for you.
Fane the Steel Chain
Fane was Elphins right hand man before his demotion.
Now he is a member of the Black Whirlwind.
- Spoiler:
Not much is known about this Blackwing other than that he hides his face and ws fiercely loyal to Elphin.
Some say that Fane trained under the Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo when he was taught how to use his favored weapon, the Chain.
Fane uses the chain with such proficiency most of his opponents never notice that they have been wounded, until it's too late.
His skills are much like Elphin's as he uses energy to disrupt his opponents, though Fane needs his enemie's blood to use his abilities.
The only reason Fane was not demoted along with Elphin is that he has never used an ally's energy.
Effect:
- Spoiler:
This card can attack your opponent directly. When this card attacks your opponent directly and inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent, change 1 Attack Position monster your opponent controls to Defense Position.
Commentary:
- Spoiler:
500 damage is a small amount of damage, Fane would have to attack 16 times in order to go for a win. As for his secoond effect it can be useful but reakky you'd rather use a card like Elphin or Maestroke do the job. After one turn Fane is a sittting duck.
Verdict:
- Spoiler:
This little guy isn't worth it, his effects can be easily replaced by another card that fits the Blackwing speed a bit better.
Gale the Whirlwind
Gale is alledgedly the leader of the Black Whirlwind.
He has been since it's founding during the Elder Wars, but that would be impossible wouldn't it?
Gale would have to be almost as old as Calima yet he looks like he is still young.
- Spoiler:
Gale is one of the most pwerful Blackwings in history, they say his mastery of the wind is so great he can make an opponent think they have lost before touching them.
Survivors who fought against him often turn into mad shadow of what they once were, rambling to themselves about being attacked by a demon, appearing out of nowhere.
There are very few survivors like this.
Even Armor Masters fear him, they never let him leave the capitol without an Armor Master escorting him.
Effect:
- Spoiler:
If you control a "Blackwing" monster other than "Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind", you can Special Summon this card from your hand. Once per turn, you can halve the ATK and DEF of 1 face-up monster your opponent controls.
Commentary:
- Spoiler:
This guy is awesome, halves oppnent's attacks, summons himself, he's even a tuner. Need I say more?
Verdict:
- Spoiler:
RUN HIM!!. Evenr in non-blackwing decks this guy can do a number on people.
I've even seen him in a HERO deck, I don't know why but it scared the crap outta me. O.o
Ghibli the Searing Wind
Among the Blackwings not everyone is in the millitary, some are civilians.
Ghibli is one such civilian.
- Spoiler:
Ghibli is normally not that intimidating, but when him or his family is threatend he becomes a feirce fighter.
Though no one has come close to attacking the capitol in ages, it's doubtful he will ever have toi use this ferocity.
Effect:
- Spoiler:
When your opponent declares a direct attack, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. Once per turn, you can switch the original ATK and DEF of this card, until the End Phase.
Commentary:
- Spoiler:
Acts like a Battle Fader only not as awesome, but it does have more attack power and is a level 3. Possibilities.
Verdict:
- Spoiler:
I'd rather use a Battle Fader.
Gladius the Midnight Sun
Gladius is a veteran of the Ice Barrier campaigns.
He held off against many assaults from the dragon worshipers, and the dragons themselves.
- Spoiler:
Gladius is always there when one of his comrades is in need.
Though his tactics may be reckless his armor more than makes up for any consecquences he may face.
Effect:
- Spoiler:
If the only face-up monster you control is a "Blackwing" monster, except "Blackwing - Gladius the Midnight Sun", you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). Once per turn, this card cannot be destroyed by battle.
Commentary:
This guy is fun, he can be searched via black whirlwind for almost anything you would summon normally. He summons himself, hes level 3 and he can be a wall.
Good card all around.
Verdict:
- Spoiler:
Full Blackwing: 1-2
He can give you rank 3's level 5 and lever 6 synchros. Always good to have
Vayu Turbo: ?
I've never put him in a Vayu Turbo because he's only good when you draw into him, my Vayu builds usually just mill.
Thats all for part 2, soon I'll make part 3
This is fairly time consuming so I'm going to post this in very small installments.
Hope you enjoyed and found this helpful.
Till next time,
